Simon Hanselmann is a New York Times best-selling author who was born in Tasmania in 1981. He has contributed comics and illustrations to the Believer and Pitchfork, among other publications. He lives in Australia and on girlmountain.tumblr.com.

An adventure into depression.

I found this comic to be quite enjoyable to read and possibly one of Hanselmann's best works to date. There's no color to the artwork other than the first and last pages showing some spectacular illustrations, the main comic itself is drawn in blue ink but it doesn't subtract nothing from the essence of the artwork or story. Without giving any spoilers, the story gives more substance to the character and personality of Megg, Mogg, Owl and Werewolf Jones. Everything isn't a drugged out blur and emotions are only superficially hidden by narcotics. The story itself begins with the gang going to a snooty restaurant for Owl's birthday, and it all devolves from there, I won't say much because it'll spoil the story, but I can assure you that depression and self loathing plays a big part of the whole comic. And be prepared for the ending, it's quite a shocker. I give this title a 5/5 stars. If you're looking for comics with great story telling and artwork, Hanselmann is a master in all these regards and more.

If you've read Megahex, you need this. If you haven't, check out Hanselmann's Tumblr page and see if you find his work entertaining before jumping in. Equal parts stoner comedy and exploration of the internal struggles millenials face with identity, depression, and friendship. Super funny and simultaneously unreal yet true to life. Love this series to death.
