An obtuse tax book? No way!

...way. The source material is complicated, yes, but the writing style is unnecessarily garbled. There's really no reason why the author couldn't use direct sentence structure, fewer multi-clause sentences, and the like. Tax law is a complex interconnection of various chapters, subchapters (etc), so maybe when introducing a new one you could list some of the cross-references? Perhaps add an "oversimplified summary" before delving into the details? Maybe if the authors didn't bury the lead about what they were discussing, I wouldn't have had to re-read sections after realizing that the authors changed the subject?
The problems are good, but again, often don't tell you what they're talking about. Many questions can chase you down rabbit holes that are correct but not directly applicable to the section of the text. Did you fail to read the author's mind? Too bad, then, when you start reading the next section and realize you were totally off topic! Ugh.
