Fine book for Scriptural meditation

I like this text because the passages are arranged one to a page for meditative reading without notes and study material.

Passages are cross referenced with other gospels at the bottom of each page. Introduction on various approaches to gospel based prayer is very helpful. And the price is right!!!!

So simple - yet absolutely profound

Michael Hansen SJ in his book "The Gospels for Prayer" has freed the Gospel texts. I didn't realise just how much was packed into so few pages until I began to pray with my copy of "The Gospels for Prayer". I didn't realise just how most printed versions of the Gospels are cluttered and filled with helpful notes for study etc. But what if you want to just pray with them? For years I have struggled in my prayer to find and keep my place in the Gospels whilst I pray. But now, when I pick up my copy of "The Gospels for Prayer" I know that I have already begun to pray. Each page sets free the text for prayer. Uncluttered, clear and simple. This book is incredible. Such a simple idea, yet profound. I can't thank Michael enough for his innovative and Spirit filled book. Brilliant!

The Gospels for Prayer

Michael Hansen has produced an aesthetically beautiful book on how to pray with the Gospels. If you are used to reading or trying to pray with a standard bible or new testament chances are you will have lots of footnotes and comments and the text condensed into small columns on each page. Michael has produced the Gospels with the major passage from each section of the four Gospels on one page at a time, with no footnotes and not comments. It is a book that is designed to allow you to pray and enter more deeply your relationship with Jesus without distraction. Michael has also an excellent introduction outlining different ways of praying that can help you to use this book more effectively. It is a beautiful book that I cannot recomment highly enough.

Bonzo fans must have!

The book is very insightful for Bonham's pre-Zeppelin years, then it kind of glazes over the Zep days. There are a few stories from Plant and Jones, but none from Page, which surprised me. There are a couple blatant and obvious errors by the author(s) which stunned me... "Kashmir on Led Zeppelin 4..." "Bonham was 31 yrs old when he died..." (he was 32). It's listed as a paperback, it is, but its appx. 10" x 12" which make the many new photos look great. I'm ready to order another one just to cut some of the new photos out.
I am a drummer and Bonham was my hero. This is a must have book for any Bonzo fan. It breaks down every Zep drum track at the end, which was pretty cool. There is a lot of "Kings English" for Yankees to decipher also. All in all, a great look at the world's greatest drummer. Worth every cent of the price.

a big disappointment

I had high hopes for this book. I have been a John Bonham fan since I was a kid. He was the reason I wanted to learn to play the drums. This book falls short by skating over many of the Led Zeppelin years. I have read both 'Hammer of the Gods' and 'Stairway to Heaven' and I had high hopes that this book would be as good as those, but just focused more on Bonzo than the whole band. Unfortunately, this book just doesn't cut it as a biography. It's got some neat photos and the analysis of Bonham's playing and his drum setups are great, but the rest of the book is more like a high school term paper. The authors should read 'Stevie Ray Vaughan: Caught in The Crossfire' by Joe Nick Patoski and Bill Crawford for clues about how to write a biography, then try again to write a Bonham biography. The Led Zeppelin DVD is a FAR better investment than this book.

Fant�stico contenido, p�sima traducci�n. Verbos en tiempos equivocados, puntos y comas que no deber�an de ir, oraciones que empiezan con letra min�scula. Pienso pedir en libro en ingl�s, pero de entrada no le recomendar�a a nadie leer la versi�n en espa�ol, me ha dado migra�a el s�lo tratar de descifrar lo que dice.

El contenido es muy bueno, peligroso en las manos equivocadas ya que creo muchas de estas leyes pueden hacer mucho da�o. Sin embargo, es excelente como defensa, para estar atento a ataques de otros.

Compre este libro ya que habia leido el arte de la guerra, hago un MBA y para el mundo de hoy hay que tener todas las herramientas posibles para evitar que te coman.
Algunas cosas son duras y criticables, pero esta en cada uno el aplicarlas o no, lo que yo siempre digo es que mas vale tener un arma y no usarla que tener que usarla y no tenerla.
Muy recomendable.
